Gifts in Kind
Gifts in Kind are a wonderful way to support the Center. We are always looking for educational books for our Library, as well as workbooks suitable for our Adult Education Program. We also accept season appropriate clothes to support our Homeless Program. For other Gifts in Kind, please contact the Center.
Volunteering time is also a wonderful way to support The Center. Volunteers are always needed for Sunday Breakfast, Saturday for Seniors, Adult Education, and the After School Program. For our After School Program, we ask that a volunteer be over the age of 18 and be able to pass a Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Clearance. Contact the Center for program specifics.
We are currently recruiting volunteers to help several of our programs. We are looking for people interested in tutoring for our Adult Education Program as well as people that want to volunteer serving food for Sunday Breakfast. If you are interested or would like to gain more information on time requirements please contact us today!
Annual Appeal 2017-2018
Just like all great things we were born from a simple thought, a group of people with a passion to create community. From that we grew...We grew into a plan, a design, a partner, a mission with the purpose of investing in people to improve all communities. Cheers to 40 years of service!
Join us as we celebrate 40 years of Passion, Progressiveness, Empowerment, and Community!
There was no better way to kick off our 40th birthday than to provide a new service for our fellow Philadelphians! With the support of the Mayor’s Office of Empowerment and supporters like you, we have been able to launch The Sunday Breakfast Program. Through this service we provide showers, clothes, a sit down hot meal and a take away meal for anyone in need! In just 10 short weeks we’ve served over 1452 meals, 396 pieces of clothes, 206 showers and were able to help bridge Gus, one of our unemployed homeless participants, to full time employment!
That’s what we call “Birthday with a Bang!”
Join in now to support this and all of our youth through senior programs and services offered through the Center. Just in the last year, with your support, instead of being home alone Hannah and about 35 other children just like her had the opportunity to create summer camp memories. After completing our Adult Education Program Raymond applied to the Community College of Philadelphia and will start there next Fall! Mrs. Wu knows she doesn’t have to be alone because there is always a safe and secure place to come on the weekends.
Wonderful things are happening at the Center and we are proud to have you as an active member! It is our birthday wish that you join us in this celebration by continuing to support the Center and its mission. No donation is too small or too large. It has been proven that together we have the power to make real change happen! We thank you for your support, your gift is priceless.
The Old Pine Community Center is a 501c3 organization and all gifts are tax deductible.

10th Annual Mardi Gras Party and Silent Auction Sponsorship
Our Annual Mardi Gras Fundraiser & Silent Auction took place on February 9th, 2018 at the Old Pine Community Center and it was a huge success! Almost $15,000 was raised to help us continue to fund our community programs such as our Homeless Program, Adult Education, and our After School Program.
Councilman Squilla awarded Ken Silver from Jim's Steaks the 1st Annual Community Person of the Year Award. There was also live music from the Al Harrison Dixieland Band, catering from Catahoula Restaurant, wine from Barefoot Wine, and dancers!
So far in 2017, we have provided over 10,000 meals to the homeless or near-homeless, granted over $20,000 in scholarships to neighborhood children through our Summer in the City Summer Camp, and continue to provide an enriching and educational environment for our local children in the After-School Program.
This annual event would not be possible without the continuous support from our donors. Please see our donor page for our full list of donors.
