Volunteer
Volunteers help support our important work through participating in the following activities:
- Afterschool Program Assistance (Monday-Friday, 3:30pm-5:30pm)
Assist staff in picking up kids from their local school (all within walking distance to OPCC), help with homework, reading and tutoring, supervise games and arts & crafts, and hand out snacks. For consistency and planning, we ask that any interested individuals be able to commit to the same weekday (i.e. every Monday), each week.
All Afterschool volunteers will be required to provide successful completion of background screenings, including PA Child Abuse History, PA State Police Criminal History, FBI Clearance, and NSOR Verification Certificate. OPCC will cover any associated costs and help walk you through the process. Please note, Afterschool volunteers must be over 18 years old.
- Meal Preparation (Tuesday & Friday, 10:00am-12:00pm)
Work with a team of volunteers to cook and prepare meals for individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. No cooking experience necessary.
- Grocery Care Package Assembly (Saturday, 9:00am-11:00am)
Pack bags of nutritious, culturally-relevant foods for families experiencing food insecurity throughout Philadelphia.
- Special Events Support (as needed)
Help with various needs including set-up, registration, or with tasks needed to successfully run our special events and fundraisers.
